Govt constitutes high level monitoring committee for Indian Science Congress

JAMMU, Dec 3: To take stock of the arrangement for hosting the Indian Science Congress at Jammu University, the State Government has constituted a high level monitoring committee.
Headed by Principal Secretary Planning and Development Department as its chairman, the 17-member committee shall monitor as to whether all required arrangements are being timely put in place and issue such directions as may be required in this regard.
The committee members comprise Principal Secretary Finance, Hospitality and Protocol Department, Principal Secretary Information Department, Principal Secretary PDD, Commissioner Secretary PHE, I&FC, Commissioner Secretary R&B, Director General Hospitality and Protocol, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary Transport, Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Director Information J&K, Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu, Chief Engineer PHE Jammu, Chief Engineer PW(R&B) Jammu, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu and representative from the Jammu University.
The Divisional Commissioner Jammu, as the convener, will organize meeting of the committee on fortnightly basis.
This high-level monitoring committee has been constituted in suppression of an earlier committee, constituted vide Government order number 1204-GAD of 2013, dated 24-08-2013.
Pertinent to mention that Indian Science Congress is being hosted by Jammu University from February 3 to 7, next year. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the mega event and more than ten thousand delegates are likely to attend the Congress.
