JAMMU, June 24: In view of the anticipated start of the train service from Katra to Baramulla after the successful trial run on the route, the Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government has created several new administrative units of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in the region.

Further, the department has also notified the track jurisdiction of all the GRP units.
As per an order, the Government has accorded sanction to the establishment of the office of Additional SP GRP Sangaldan with headquarters at Sangaldan in Ramban district, SDPO GRP Banihal office in District Ramban, and establishment of four Police Stations and four Police Posts including Police Stations GRP Sawlakote, GRP Sangaldan, GRP Banihal and GRP Reasi, besides Police Posts GRP Sumber, GRP Dugga, GRP Kheri, and GRP Bakkal.
The Government has also accorded its approval for the establishment of a Zonal Signal Centre in Katra area of the Reasi district.
Further, in suppression of all the previous orders, the Government has also notified the track jurisdiction of all the GRP units.
As per an order, the SSP GRP Jammu’s jurisdiction shall have GRP Sub Divisions Vijaypur and Jammu with Police Stations GRP Kathua in Vijaypur Sub Division and Police Stations GRP Jammu and GRP Manwal in Jammu Range.
Similarly, SSP GRP Katra’s jurisdiction shall have GRP Sub Divisions of Udhampur, Katra, Sangaldan, and Banihal with Police Station GRP Udhampur in Udhampur Sub Division, Police Stations GRP Katra and GRP Reasi in Katra Sub Division, Police Stations GRP Sawlakote and GRP Sangaldan in Sangaldan Sub Division and Police Station GRP Banihal in Banihal Sub Division.
SSP GRP Kashmir’s GRP Sub Divisions included Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla with Police Stations GRP Qazigund, GRP Anantnag, and GRP Awantipora in Anantnag Sub Division, Police Station GRP Srinagar in Srinagar Sub Division, and Police Stations GRP Hamray and GRP Baramulla in Baramulla Sub Division.
The Government has also notified the jurisdictions of the Police Posts.
