JAMMU, Dec 14: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that Government is endeavoring to create durable revenue related infrastructure across the State for the facilities of people.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the locals after inspecting the proposed site for construction of Niabat Bahu Fort complex at Narwal Bye-pass, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government was committed to ensure people-friendly administration in the State, adding that several initiatives have been taken in the Revenue Department to facilitate the people. He said during the past four years a number of model computerized record rooms have been constructed across the State to ensure easy access of people to revenue records.
The Minister asked the Chief Engineer R&B to immediately start the construction work of project as per the approved design. With the completion of the complex, the revenue related problems of the 4-lakh populace of Channi Rama, Transport Nagar, Narwal, Bahu Fort, Sunjwan, Bathindi and its adjoining areas would be solved under one roof. Presently the office is functioning in rented building at Trikuta Nagar.
Mr. Bhalla said computerization of revenue record is under progress on war-footing, adding that with the completion of computerized of records, people would be able to trace and access their records without inconvenience. He said that the department is also distributing revenue passbooks to the farmers containing all records pertaining to their land to ensure transparency at grass root level.
Mr. Bhalla said that to make available the records to the people in a time bound manner the Government has enforced Public Services Guarantee Act (PSGA). He added that delay in delivering of services by the concerned officials to the applicants will be viewed seriously and the concerned are liable for punishment under the Act. He called upon the people to avail benefits of the new laws.
Later, the Minister visited Karan Bagh and asked the officers to prepare estimates for construction of 700-meter long deep drain on both sides upto Landoi Choi nallah in Chatha Pind and submit the same for funding so that the project could be taken up shortly. He said people have faced lot of hardships due to non-availability of surface drainage system.
At Raipur Satwari, Mr. Bhalla inspected the ongoing construction work of multipurpose community hall, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 67 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the left out works of the complex within stipulated time frame so that the locals can reap the benefits of the service.
Chief Engineer (R&B), Tehseen Mustafa, Executive Engineer R&B D K Rampaul besides other senior engineers of R&B accompanied the Minister.
