Govt deliberately keeping migrants out of electoral process: KSS

NEW DELHI, Mar 13: Kashmir Sewak Samaj (KSS) Faridabad, Haryana today alleged that the Government like previous years is deliberately keeping Kashmiri migrants out of electoral process and debarring them to exercise their franchise.
In a statement issued here, today, KSS vice president, Kashi Akhoon said thousands of Kashmiri migrants feel cheated as Government seems not serious to extend the facility of PMJAY and provide voter Identity Cards to migrants living in various parts of India outside Jammu and Kashmir who have not registered in Jammu.
He said a two day Ayushmann camp and Voter ID Card was organised in Sharika Bhawan Faridabad by Relief and Rehabilitation Department Jammu on March 12 and 13.
Hundreds of community members joined with high hopes to get Ayushman cards and voter cards on the spot.
He said but the experience was bitter than previous camps for the people who had to go with empty hands after waiting for two days continuously and it was again a huge harassment for community people.
Akhoon said earlier twice Relief Commissioner had organised such camps at various places in Delhi NCR and collected thousands of forms involving Kashmiri Sabhas after assuring them to issue Ayushmann cards and voter cards.
But all those forms were not processed by the Government agencies even after several months have passed.
Although lately the Government has linked the PMJAY to migrant registration cards so that this facility can be extended to migrants living outside J&K but as the system designed for it is not efficient to issue the Ayushman cards and voter cards, he said.
Akhoon said in two days camp only 61 Ayushman cards were registered in Faridabad. Same is the case of other areas of NCR who have also faced such deficiencies in service, he added.
He said Kashmiri migrants are keen to get registered as JK voters but the Government agencies are not issuing voter cards even after getting the duly filled forms from the people.
