Govt determined to boost tourism infrastructure: Mir

UDHAMPUR, July 16: The Government is committed to develop tourism infrastructure in  every nook and corner of the State on priority to help increase tourist influx besides raise socio-economic status of the people.
This was stated by Minister for Tourism, G. A. Mir, in a meeting of officers of different Tourism Development Authorities  held at Patnitop  to review the physical and financial progress on various tourism projects  on Tuesday.
Among others Director Tourism, Jammu, Saujanya Sharma, Managing Director JKTDC, Shameem, Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of Patnitop Development Authority, Raman Kesar, Bhaderwah Development Authority, Angrez Singh Rana, Executive Engineer Kishtwar Development Authority, H.L. Bhagat and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on status of different projects including Tourist Complex Teligarh, conservation of Bhaderwah Fort, Yatris Niwas at Kishtwar, construction of TRC at Sarthal Devi Ji, construction works of water front tourist spot at Chhatroo, construction work on budget accommodation at Sanasar and  Kud, development and conservation of Sansar Lake etc.
The Minister instructed the Chief Executive Officer, Patnitop Development Authority (PDA)  to  revise the Master Plan  with better facilities  at this tourist destination  to make it more attractive for the tourists in consultation with experts in the field.
The Minister advised all the Chief Executive  Officers of different development authorities to prepare video documentaries on  identified important tourist  spots as per season and highlight the same through electronic media which would help increase the influx of tourists besides boost state’s economy.
The Minister also instructed the officers to ensure better coordination with other departments for smooth and speedy execution of ongoing projects. He asked the concerned CEOs to work with missionary zeal in providing  better basic amenities to the tourists .
Mir directed the Managing Director JKTDC to improve the tourist cottages with the availability of additional facilities according to the entire satisfaction of the tourists.
Director Tourism,  Jammu, Saujanya Sharma highlighted the development projects being carried out by the department to improve the tourist infrastructure in Jammu province.
Later, a deputation of locals and Gujars and Bakerwals met the Minister and put forth their demands and problems.
The Minister assured an early redressal to their issues.
