Govt to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination: Ex-MLC

RS Pura,  Oct 25: Reiterating commitment of  the Coalition Government to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has a comprehensive vision for the socio-economic growth of Jammu region.
Party said that PDP in its agenda has also promised that to implement a comprehensive programme so that Jammu  remains a favourite tourist destination of the people across the country and abroad.
Addressing public meetings at Suchetgarh and RS Pura, PDP general secretary, Ved Mahajan mentioned that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has repeatedly conducted tour of the Suchetgarh which is reflection of her commitment to develop this border post on the pattern of Wagha border.  He said that coalition regime would also formulate a comprehensive plan for developing Gharna wetland to attract tourists from across the country.
Mahajan reminded that PDP in its election manifesto had especially emphasised on Jammu city so as to develop this historical city as heritage tourism destination. “We have a comprehensive vision for developing this historic city in every sphere of life,” he said.
Reiterating commitment of his party to address grievances of every section of the society, he called upon party workers to reach out to the masses to solve their day today problems. He maintained that formation of PDP-BJP Government was historic event in the political history Jammu and Kashmir because both the parties have over-whelming mandate of the people of the State.
He hoped that PDP-BJP Govt would script a new chapter of peace, progress, prosperity and development in the history of the State.
