JAMMU, May 24: Taking cognizance of slow pace of processing claims under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP), Government of Jammu and Kashmir has enjoined upon all Deputy Commissioners, Hospitals and other concerned agencies to process the claims as expeditiously as possible.
According to a circular, issued today by the General Administration Department, a recent review of the package by the Government of India has revealed that the claims under it are getting delayed due to slow pace of processing by the hospitals and other concerned agencies, which leads to lesser disbursements by the respective Deputy Commissioners.
“This not only reduced the effectiveness of the Package but also defeats its aims and objectives , a matter, which has been viewed with concern by the Authorities,” reads the circular and concludes with the direction: “Accordingly, it is enjoined upon all Deputy Commissioners, Hospital and other concerned Agencies to process and certify claims under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana/Package as expeditiously as possible, so that the benefits of the package reach the poor, deserving and needy people without any delay.”
Pertinent to mention that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package is a comprehensive relief package announced in March 2020, to reach out to the poorest of the poor, with food and money in these testing times of the COIVD-19 pandemic.
