JAMMU, Apr 10: The District Administration Jammu today distributed free ration among over 400 labourers/ workers at Jammu Railway Station.
Taking cognizance of the report that appeared in the Daily Excelsior today with regard to starvation of about 500 workers engaged for handling of goods at Jammu Railway Station, the Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu South, Srikant Balasaheb directed Tehsildar Bahu, Rohit Sharma to find out the location of the families and distribute ration to them.
Tehsildar Bahu along with Naib Tehsildar and other CAPD and Revenue staff today reached the site along with goods carriers and distributed ration kits containing 5 kg Atta, mustard oil and other items among 400 labourers/ workers.
SDM South told the Excelsior that after going through the report of Daily Excelsior, a Revenue team was sent to the area. It was discovered that these workers had not been provided any assistance from any agency or NGO.
Then he directed Tehsildar Bahu, Rohit Sharma and Naib Tehsildar concerned to provide immediate assistance to these families. He extended gratitude to the newspaper for reaching out to such people during the testing times and project public issues.
