SAMBA, Sept 20: Maintaining that the Government is duty bound to implement the law, Minister of Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today said that the ban on sale of beef is enshrined in the State law since the Maharaja’s time.
The Minister, who was speaking while laying the foundation stone of Veterinary Sub Centre at Shah Talab in Bari Brahmana, near here today said that Government is duty bound to perform its constitutional obligations and enforce the ban on sale of beef in the State.
The Minister said that police in Jammu has also been given strict instructions to enforce ban in letter and spirit on the transportation of bovine animals and take stern action under the law on bovine smugglers by arresting them.
The Minister said the people should not believe in rumors as BJP will not do anything which can go against the national interests and the Party will sacrifice any thing for national cause. The BJP can surrender the power for the self esteem of the nationalist people, he added.
The Minister however said that 90 percent of Kashmiris are nationalists and want to lead a peaceful life. He said only 10 percent people owing allegiance to separatist Hurriyat and anti national elements who are acting on the dictates of Pakistan are creating problems by misleading the people for their vested interests.
The Sub-centre being executed under NABARD funding is estimated to cost Rs 27 lakh.
The Minister directed the officers to adhere to quality parameters and ensure speedy execution of the building adding that the Government is for creating durable assets in the State.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said accelerating developmental activities with emphasis on growth of unattended and inaccessible pockets, is the core mantra of coalition government. He also said the upcoming Sub Centre would cater to vital veterinary facilities to the local farmers at their doorsteps.
The Minister asked the executing agency to complete the work in shortest possible time and handover the building to the concerned agency for making the Vet centre operational.
Later the Minister inspected the ongoing up-gradation and improvement work on Barjani to Badhori road in Bari Brahmana. He directed the officials to monitor the work closely and collect samples of construction material on regular basis to ensure use of quality material.
Executive Engineer PWD(R&B) Ram Pal, other officers of the department and the residents of the area were also present on the occasion.
The Minister while later commissioning 300 TPD Clinker Grinding Cum Packaging Plant of Jammu & Kashmir Cements Limited (A State Government Public Sector Undertaking) at Industrial Growth Centre in Samba impressed upon the management to make sure that the local people of the area get maximum benefit from this plant in shape of employment and other allied jobs.
The Minister said the Government is fully committed to provide congenial atmosphere for industrialists and industrial growth. He also informed the gathering that various new industries are coming up in the State which would directly benefit the State, generate employment and boost the industrial growth.
MLA Samba Dr. Davinder Kumar Manyal urged the management to keep check on the air pollution and provide employment to local people.
Managing Director JKCL Rakesh Sharma informed the gathering that the plant would manufacture quality grade of cement both PPC and OPC of Chenab brand and same would be made available to general consumers of the area at most competitive rates.
DDC Samba Sheetal Nanda, SSP Samba Joginder Singh, ADC Samba Pawan Sharma, MD SIDCO Amit Sharma, MD JKCL Rakesh Sharma, GM JKCL Atul Sharma, GM DIC Samba Krishan Sharma, President Samba Industries Association Vijay Agarwal besides staff of JKCL, Industrialists and the local people of the area were also present at the function.
