JAMMU, Feb 6: An employee of Weights and Measures Department was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in lower Roop Nagar area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, some locals today spotted an unidentified male body lying in a secluded place in lower Roop Nagar area near Ladakhi Hostel. On their information, a police team reached the spot and shifted the body to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
Later, the deceased was identified as a driver of Weights and Measures Department namely Waqeel Chand (53) son of Bari Ram, resident of Udeywala, Jammu. According to the police, the man was missing since this morning along with his Maruti car bearing registration number JK02N-9302, which was also recovered near the spot.
“Prima facie, it appears that the man died due to electrocution”, police said, adding, in this connection, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC were initiated at police station Janipur.
