Govt encouraging mischievous elements, communal tension: Sham

JAMMU, Sept 18: While chairing a meeting of ST community at Akhnoor today, Sham Lal Sharma- senior vice president JKPCC and former Minister, stressed the need for maintaining communal harmony in the State and alleged that wrong policy of the Government had encouraged the fringe elements to move scot free disrupting peace and tranquility of Jammu Kashmir.
The meeting, also attended by Aijaz Khan, MLA and Dy CLP Leader; Ch Akram, MLA & chairman ST department JKPCC, was organized by Didar Hussain, vice chairman ST department JKPCC.
Sham Lal Sharma, in his address, said that volatile situation in the Valley has taken an ugly turn due to its mishandling both by State and Central Government. He expressed his anguish over the prevailing situation and asked the State Government to take immediate steps to normalize the situation in the Valley as common people were badly affected.
He lambasted the BJP-PDP Government for providing comfort zone to the separatists which had further emboldened the mischievous elements to trigger communal tension. He said that the wrong policy of the Government had encouraged the fringe elements to move scot free to disrupt the peace and tranquility of the State.
Sham further exhorted to the people of the State to maintain communal harmony in the best interest of the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Aijaz Khan said that there are certain forces and factors in the State vitiating atmosphere of peace by communalizing the situation. He appealed the people to remain vigilant and defeat the designs of unscrupulous and disgruntled elements hell bent upon to harm the communal harmony and age old tradition of unity and brotherhood in the State.
Describing Congress party as the representative of people in true sense, Ch Mohd Akram said that Congress party being the only unifying force in the country would continue to fight against the forces harming secular fabric of the State. “It won’t allow anyone to play with the emotions of people to benefit their vested interests,” he said.
