REASI, July 4: While continuing its protest against rising price hike in petrol and diesel , senior Congress leader and former Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma today protested with his supporters in Block Pouni of District Reasi and submitted a memorandum to Tehsildar Pouni to be forwarded to President of India .
While speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore said that the Government has been increasing the prices of petrol and diesel and thus putting undue extra burden on the shoulders of common people . He alleged that the Central Government had amassed huge profits on account of exorbitantly increased Central excise duties on petrol and diesel , even as price of International crude have been at a record low . “Rather than passing on the benefits of the low cost of procurement to the people , the Government has deliberately kept the price high by increasing the Excise Duty ,” he said .
“People of our country are already facing losses in business , and jobs are drying up while the economy has slowed down because of Government policies,” he added.
Jugal Kishore warned that public will not tolerate this loot of people’s money by the Modi Government and demanded immediate roll back of the rising prices. Further, he said that common people, the middle class, farmers, transporters and small and medium businesses are “bearing the pain” of high petrol rates . Farmers cannot afford to run tractors now with such a steep hike in diesel rates , he added.
Other present during the protest demonstration, included Distt Working President Amit Sharma , BDC Chairman Plini Pawan Sharma, Munshi Ram Salalia, Advocate Vijay Sharma, Bishan Magotra, Ajay Salalia, Block President Pouni, Jugal Kesar, Sarpanches, Ex Sarpanches and other party workers.
