JAMMU, June 20: Senior Supreme Court lawyer and a prominent Kashmiri leader, Ashok Bhan has said the ethnic cleansing of native Kashmiri population and killings of innocent Kashmiris by terrorists has rendered hundreds of thousands people fleeing Kashmir their homeland have been living as refugees and rendered homeless and roots less.
Speaking at a joint meeting of human right activists, the law students and Kashmiri Pandit refugees on the eve of World Refugee Day at Union Capital today, he said it is the 35 th year of homeless living for this population that has brought colossal miseries, trauma and harsh living conditions to them besides disintegration syndrome to this unique population.
Bhan said the Union Government, has palpably failed in last 10 years to plan a structured return and rehabilitation of refugees population back to home in Kashmir. He said there is a national consensus and Kashmiri societal overwhelming support for their Gharwapsi but unfortunately the current Government does not prioritise this festering issue. Bhan said-on this World Refugees Day Kashmiris beseech Modi 3:0 to plan the Gharwapsi of native Kashmiri population back to their homeland and respectively the national and Kashmiri Societal support.
There is a loud demand by Kashmiris that Kashmir is incomplete without the physical presence of Kashmiri Pandits.
Today is the World Refugees Day -an International Day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It falls each year on June 20 and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their homes to escape violence, conflict or persecution.
