Govt fails to contain sparks of terror reaching Jammu: AJCSF

JAMMU, Aug 14: All Jammu Civil Society Forum has alleged that State Government has failed to contain the sparks of terror from reaching Jammu region.
Referring to the attack on Yatra in Poonch last evening, the members of Jammu Civil Society Forum strongly condemned the incident and said that miscreants have tried to disturb peace and the communal harmony in Jammu region.
A spokesman of the Forum said that unfortunately it has happened when AJCSF delegation led by co-convenor Abdul Majid and former DC Mohd Aslam were at Rajouri visiting the area to strengthen the ties of communal harmony, mutual brotherhood and national unity and the other team led by convenor Gulchain Singh Charak and comprising of other members Annil Suri, Yashpal Gupta, S Peter, Kuldip Wahi and Neeraj Anand were holding similar meetings in Jammu areas.
The members condemned the failure of Government and the security agencies who have failed to contain terror activities in Jammu. They said the main centre of such activities was Kashmir and now, Jammu has also been engulfed in such activities. Its sparks are reaching Jammu as well. They said lawlessness is prevailing in Kashmir and there is no sign of governance. There seems to be no law enforcing or administrative authority.
Denouncing this surrender to lawless elements in the strongest words the AJCSF convenor G S Charak urged upon the Government to contain the evil from spreading and disturbing the otherwise peaceful life in Jammu region. With the threats of strike in the identified areas, there is need of extras vigilance and additional security deployment. He said the tourism, transport and trade in Jammu has been badly effected with the situation in Kashmir. He strongly pleaded for activation of winter secretariat at Jammu.
Meanwhile, in a meeting held here today, leading intellectuals, social activists, businessmen, traders and industrialists pledged their all out support to the very timely initiative taken by the Civil Society of Jammu province for framing a body –AJCSF and said it was need of the hour.
Prominent businessmen and AJCSF team members among others who attended the meeting included Vinod Sachdeva, Chander Gulati, Tejwant Singh Reen, Attar Singh, Rahul Sahai, Sandeep Gupta, Deepak Gupta, Col Virender Kumar Sahi, Dr Navindu Raizada, Rajesh Gupta, Parveen Gupta, Surinder Mahajan, S. Kulbir Singh, Vijay Sharma, SP Langar, Davinder Batra, Raghubir Chander Gupta and Pavan Nanda.
