JAMMU, Apr 19: Giving final opportunity to those vehicle owners, who have not affixed High Security Registration Number Plate (HSRP) till date, Government today announced May 15, 2019 as cutoff date for affixing of HSRP.
According to a circular issued by Transport Commissioner, affixation of HSRP to all vehicles has already been made mandatory by Transport Department, J&K but still a large number of vehicles are plying in the State without affixing of HSRP which is in violation of the directions of Supreme Court.
“In view of this, final opportunity is hereby given to those vehicle owners, who have not affixed HSRP till date, to approach the authorized vendor for affixing HSRP on their vehicles. The cutoff date for affixing of HSRP is May 15, 2019 and thereafter, action as warranted under rules will be initiated against the defaulters,” the circular read.
The circular further read: “Any unauthorized vendor found making or affixing of registration of manual number plates shall be penalized under law. All individuals, firms, business houses involved in illegal unauthorized fabrication and affixing of number plates are advised to abide by the direction. All the registering authorities/enforcement agencies are impressed upon to ensure implementation of affixing HSRP on all motor vehicles of the State.”
