SRINAGAR, Oct 4: The opposition Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Ashok Khajuria, today accused Government of forcing migration of the members of the minority community from Kishtwar where communal violence broke out two months ago.
Raising the issue as soon as House assembled, the MLA alleged that a minor from minority community was beaten up by police in a Police Station at Kishtwar.
A youth, Abay Kumar, was tortured by special investigation team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, he said and alleged that a deep routed conspiracy is going on in Kishtwar.
Holding banners and placards in their hands, BJP legislators shouted slogans against the Government. The BJP leader Ashok Khajuria said that minority community is being forced to migrate from Kishtwar, after police started terrorising them.
The BJP legislators demanded that Government should come out with a statement and inform the House about the entire incident.
The Speaker of the House Mubarak Gul directed BJP members not to raise any matter which could disturb the communal harmony in the State. “I will not allow any member to raise any issue which has the potential to disturb the communal peace and is against country’s interests,” he said, adding members should not try to increase the tension.
Khajuria wanted a quick response from the Government. However, the Speaker said it was not possible for the Government to reply on each and every issue in the House. This is not a Question Hour that the Government will have readymade reply. Government has to listen to all the issues raised by you and examine the same before giving reply,” Gul told the BJP MLAs.
The National Panthers Party (NPP) in the House Harshdev Singh demanded Government pay compensation to those affected during Kishtwar violence irrespective of their faith.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj System Ali Mohammad Sagar intervened, “We will reply to this issue after getting the facts.”
BJP and NPP members alleged that the minister has provided wrong information to the House on the issue. “If any minister gives wrong information in the House,  action would be taken against him and he or she may lose the Ministry,” the Speaker warned.
Congress MLA Mohammad Sharif Niyaz said that some political parties are desperate to give a communal colour to the Kishtwar incident. He said that Government has already set up a commission which is probing the incident in which both life and property was lost.
He also said that in the entire region, Muslims are in minority in some areas and Hindus are in minority in other areas and both the communities are living peacefully for decades. “The area has been abode of communal harmony when entire country was in communal flames at the time of partition. But some political parties are trying to divide people on communal lines”, he added.
