JAMMU, June 24: Government today constituted an Apex Level Selection Committee for selection of the Ombudsman under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Headed by the Financial Commissioner (Addl Chief Secretary) Agriculture Production Department, the committee shall recommend selection of Ombudsperson in each district and termination of the same from his/her position in case of unsatisfactory performance.
Representative of Union Ministry of Rural Development and an eminent civil society person nominated by the Union Ministry of Rural Development are members of the committee while Administrative Secretary, Department of Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj is the Member cum Convener.
Quorum for the meeting of the selection committee shall be considered fulfilled only if either the representative of the Ministry of Rural Development or the representative of civil society organization is present.
