JAMMU, Dec 16: Government of Jammu and Kashmir today constituted a committee for resolving the issue of land for relocation of Government Medical College, Handwara.
Headed by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, the committee shall ascertain the feasibility of new sites identified by the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara for construction of GMC Handwara and Nursing College (in co-location) under the CSS.
Further, the committee shall look into the availability of utilities like water, road connectivity, power supply etc or else developmental cost on these aspects. It shall also ensure issuance of necessary NOC/clearances from the departments like Forest, Agriculture, SKUAST (K) and others as are pre-requisites for facilitating the land transfer.
The 11-member committee comprises DC Kupwara; Engineer-in-Chief (Secretary Technical), PW (R&B) Department; Principal GMC Handwara; Director Coordination, New Government Medical Colleges and others, shall submit its report along with specific findings and recommendations within 15 days.
