JAMMU, Sept 25: Consequent upon the State Administrative Council decision, a committee has been constituted for operationalization of new colleges in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Government today accorded sanction to the constitution of committee, which shall finalize the phasing of newly sanctioned 26 colleges and examine the feasibility of likely locations for 14 new colleges, keeping in view the prescribed norms and factors like enrolment, student-teacher ratio, faculty deployment, geographical conditions and financial requirements.
The committee, headed by Administrative Secretary of the Finance Department and comprising of Administrative Secretaries of Planning, Higher Education and School Education Departments as the Members, shall submit its report to the Higher Education Department within a period of two months.
Pertinent to mention that that the State Administrative Council, vide its decision number 65/11/2018, dated 05-09-2018, had directed the Higher Education Department to process the creation of 40 new Degree colleges, including 26 colleges (24 Degree Colleges and two Administrative Staff Colleges) already sanctioned, in a phased manner.
