Govt to frame standardized fee policy for installation of mobile towers

JAMMU, Dec 1: The State Government mulls to have a standardized policy of charging fee for the installation of mobile towers by the cellular companies in Panchayats, Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq said this while meeting the representatives of various cellular companies.
Abdul Haq said the Rural Development Department is charging certain amount as fee from the companies for installation of towers in Panchayats but the State Government wants to streamline this process by having a uniform policy for all Panchayats across the State.
The Minister sought suggestions from the representatives of the cellular companies in this regard.
The Law Minister said that the Coalition Government wants to make investment-friendly provisions so that more companies can come to the State to invest. He said the policy will take care of all the hassles faced by the companies in paying the fee and will work towards single window system. He said Government wants to ease out the difficulties faced by the companies by switching over to single window system.
While discussing with the representatives of the cellular companies the standing rules regarding fee being charged in the neighboring States, the Minister said the Government will consider all the opinions before framing the policy so that the companies, public as well as the Government are benefitted at large. He said the fee so charged will be used for the benefit of the local population.
Abdul Haq also asked the companies to pay all the liabilities till date as per the existing norms and the new fee structure will be charged as per the policy which will be drafted soon.
Representatives of the companies informed the Minister that the companies have jointly submitted a draft of suggestions which should be taken care of before framing a policy. Minister assured them that the suggestions will be respected before any decision is taken.
