Govt getting brazen on corruption: PDP

SRINAGAR, Dec 2: The People’s Democratic Party today said that despite serious scams tumbling out, the State Government has responded brazenly by promoting an officer accused of serious malpractices in issuance of fake certificates in the Health Department.
The party general secretary, Mohammad Dilawar Mir said the Government seems on a mission leaving no institution uncorrupted, adding it has become a standard practice of the rulers to elevate tainted officers to sensitive positions, at a time, when serious allegations of corruption and malpractice are pending against them.
“Instead of taking stringent action against a top official in the Health Department for his alleged role in issuance of fraudulent pharmacist certificates to hundreds of youth across the State in lieu of lakhs of rupees, the Government promoted him to a higher position.  By doing so, the Government put the lives of ordinary people on danger by exposing them first to fake drugs, then fake doctors and now to fake pharmacists”, Mir alleged.
Though the Chief Minister’s office was well aware of the matter and had received complaint in this regard in August this year, yet the name of the officer was cleared by the Cabinet, for higher position, he added.
Mir pointed out that it is not a mere case of corruption or misuse of authority, but it is very sensitive in nature and akin to playing with the lives of people whom these fraud appointees will treat.
Demanding a thorough probe into the matter, Mir said Government must come clear on issue, which has put question mark on its credibility.
