Govt hands over conman Patel to Gujarat Crime Branch

SRINAGAR, Apr 6: Government today handed over the custody of impersonator Kiran Patel to Gujarat Police following the directions of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar.
The CJM Srinagar today directed the Superintendent of Central Jail Srinagar to handover the custody of Gujrati conman to the Crime Branch Ahmadabad, Gujrat.
The CJM court presided by Raja Mohammad Tasleem allowed the application moved by CB Ahmadabad, Gujrat seeking change to custody of the accused Kiranbhai of Ahmadabad on the ground that the accused is required in an FIR for commission of cheating and criminal conspiracy offences.
The application has been moved by CB Inspector of police M M Solanki stating there that the accused is presently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar and his custody is required for investigation of the case.
The accused during hearing of the application was also produced through video conferencing and after hearing and perusal of the record court opined that the application carries much weight.
Court at the same time allowed the application and directed the custody of accused is changed from FIR 19/2023 registered in Police Station Nishat to FIR registered in police Station Ahmadabad, Gujrat. Court directed the Incharge Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar to hand over the custody to Inspector of Police M M Solanki after proper medical checkup.
Patel was arrested in Srinagar for posing as Additional Director of the Prime Minister’s Office. He was provided security by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
