SRINAGAR, May 5: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh reviewed the functioning of health institutions of Kashmir division at a high level meeting here today. The Minister of State for Health, Asiya Naqash was also present on the occasion.
Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, Shant Manu, Director General Indian System of Medicines, Dr Abdul Kabir, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ul-Rehman, Mission Director NRHM, Dr Yashpal Sharma, and Director, Family Welfare, besides other senior officers of Health and Medical Education departments attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asked healthcare functionaries to maintain sanctity of the noble profession and adopt patient-friendly approach. He also called upon them to perform their duties with missionary zeal and devotion so that patients get better treatment in Government hospitals.
The Minister said that Government has initiated various programmes for the upgradation of healthcare sector across the State. He said all the health institutions are being equipped with latest equipment and necessary facilities so that people get adequate and better healthcare facilities at their doorstep. He also asked them to ensure implementation of Government sponsored health schemes in letter and spirit so that benefits of these schemes reach to the deserving and needy patients.
Lal Singh asked for preparing DPRs for upgradation and improvement of all the healthcare institutions in Kashmir. He also asked the officers to ensure hygienic atmosphere and cleanliness in and around the health institutions.
During the meeting, the Director General Indian System of Medicines, Director Health Services, Kashmir and Mission Director NRHM gave detailed overview of the functioning of health sector in Kahsmir through power-point presentations. They also put forth various suggestions and demands for improving healthcare setup in the valley.
Minister of State for Health, Asiya Naqash also stressed upon all the heads of departments to launch awareness campaign to make people aware about prevention of various diseases. She also asked them to frequently visit health centres and monitor the functioning of these institutions.
