JAMMU, Oct 15: A one-day CME programme on “Cervical cancer prevention – A collaborative commitment” was organized by Government Hospital Gandhinagar in collaboration with American Oncology Institute (AOI), Jammu.
The event was graced by ex-Director General Health J&K, Dr Saleem Ur Rehman who was the chief guest and ex-Director Health Jammu Dr Madhu Khullar who was the guest of honour.
In his inaugural address, Dr Saleem Ur Rehman underscored Government Hospital Gandhinagar’s dedication for remaining at the forefront in academics as well in health care delivery.
Addressing the gathering Dr Rakesh Magotra praised the initiative of Hospital administration for organizing such academic events for the continuing medical education of various DNB students undergoing their course at Government Hospital Gandhinagar.
Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar, Medical Superintendent of Government Hospital Gandhinagar, highlighted need for strategic planning for the execution of cervical cancer screening and vaccination.
The organizing secretary of the CME, Dr Amandeep Kour Anand (Consultant Gynaecologist and HoD DNB OBGYN) gave the introductory note and gave a broad perspective of cervical cancer prevention at National and Global level.
The speakers of the CME included Dr Manjusha Bajaj, Dr Megha Sharma, Dr Rajni Gupta, Dr Neelu Sharma, Dr Avinash Rajra and Dr Samita Bhat.
The event saw participation of senior doctors Dr Yudhvir Gupta (ex-HoD Pathology GMC Jammu), Dr Surinder Kumar (ex-HoD Obs & Gynae GMC Jammu), Dr Anil Mehta (ex-HoD Obs & Gynae GMC Kathua), Dr Deepak Abrol (AOI Jammu), Dr Surbhi Kudyar (AOI Jammu) and Dr Vishav Gupta.
Delegates and students from various hospitals of Jammu province were present in an impressive audience.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Naresh Khajuria.
