Govt ignoring development of Chenab Valley: Bhandari

KISHTWAR, Apr 19: Various problems being faced by the people of Chenab Valley were discussed in a meeting here today which was chaired by senior Congress leader and member Civil Society Kishtwar Shamsher Singh Bhandari.
The meeting was also addressed by another Party leader Farooq Ahmed Tapal. It expressed grave concern over the failure of Government in four lanning of the Kishtwar -Batote road which has become a death trap now.
The meeting in an appeal to State R&B Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri sought his intervention in the matter and urged him to take up the proposal of widening of the road with Union Government at an earliest to save the people from the frequent road mishaps in the area.
It also demanded immediate construction of other roads in the Chenab Valley and restoration of work on much talked about Ratle Power Project and starting of work on other power projects in the area.
Mr Bhandari said that the present Government has neglected the area completely as the developmental works are standstill.
