Srinagar, Sept 6: J&K Employees and Workers Welfare Association (JKEWWF) today expressed resentment over what it called hypocrisy and deceit on part of the government for depriving daily wagers of their hard-earned wages.
The Association’s spokesperson expresses anguish over the recent announcements made by the JK government and raised question over govt.’s sincerity towards daily wagers and casual labourers, whose regularization policy has already been announced and approved by the previous cabinet.
The decision made by the Government of J&K under the guidelines of Union Cabinet Secretary to rehabilitate the migrant workers/labourers in J&K from different states has been hailed by the JKEWWF.
“Therefore, the demand for immediate compensation to these daily wagers be announced, followed by payment of wages and regularizing of their services in their respective departments are anticipated by the JKEWWF,” the spokesperson said.
It is to be mentioned here that the J&K Labour Department has announced a new scheme engaging and granting benefits to labourers and other construction workers under JKBOCWWB.
The JKEWWF said that it has been done while ignoring more than 60,000 daily rated workers who are employed by various departments of the government and have been awaiting regularization and disbursal of their wages.
