Govt ignoring plight of relief holders, over-aged youth: KPC

JAMMU, Sept 30: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) expressed its strong resentment and displeasure over completely ignoring the relief holders, over-aged youth and other grave issues of the displaced Pandit community. The organisation has also extending its full support to Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS) demands.
KPC in a meeting today at New Delhi expressed its anger and anguish over the failure of JK UT Government as well as of the Central Government to solve the problems of Kashmiri migrant relief holders and over-aged youth who are the worst sufferers of the three decade long turmoil and official apathy.
KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri stated that the most existential problems of the community has been ignored which has suffered an immense loss due to terrorism and genocide. The Government which failed to give them protection and ensure their security in the Kashmir Valley has been so callous to these hapless people that it has even denied them the right to live.
A meager amount of relief can’t guarantee them a dignified and honorable life as the community has lost its entire property after the mass exodus, he said.
He also demanded restoration of displaced Kashmiri Pandits property and property of their religious places which has been encroached, sold or illegally leases, besides, medical facilities and Central schemes be implemented for Kashmiri Pandits and employment package for unemployed KP youths in Central Government departments and undertakings.
Senior vice president, KPC Tej Pandita stated that there is no Government policy to look into the problems of these hapless people nor any steps are being taken for their honorable and dignified rehabilitation by the Government despite the fact that Kashmiri Pandits contribution to Indian aesthetics and other fields is immense.
He also strongly demanded compensation for the damages and losses suffered by displaced KP community due to forced exodus and also the monthly relief be enhanced to Rs 25,000 per family for their immediate survival.
Dr. H.L Saraf, general secretary KPC and Susheel Ji Bhat secretary KPC stated that KPs are real victims of terrorism and faced with worst kind of atrocities and human right violations which will not be tolerated any more now.
