Govt ignoring promotion of tourism in Jammu: AJHLA

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 30: All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association (AJHLA) expressed serious concern over the doubtful intentions of the state and Central Governments especially in protecting Jammu Tourism in view of the fact that major ongoing Jammu development projects remain abandoned till date as there is no such mention in the recently held Tourism Advisory Board (TAB) meeting in Kashmir.
In a press statement, president AJHLA Inderjeet Khajuria said that tall claims made by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have proved hoax and the apprehensions of Jammuites of Jammu becoming another Pathankot have come true and Government assurances in this regard have been proved to be bundle of lies.
Mentioning about the height of discrimination with Jammu in every aspect, he said that while the Secretariat is operating in Jammu, the Chief Minister preferred the holding of first ever meeting of TAB at Pahalgam, wherein the Kashmir tourism was the main focus and negligible reference of Jammu was made simply touching Patnitop, Bhaderwah and Basohli (Ranjit Sagar Dam), without talking an iota of major Jammu development projects like Tawi Artificial Lake Project; Jammu Cable car Project; Manda Wild Life Sanctuary; Multistoried Shopping Complex, Parking & Modernization of General Bus Stand Jammu; Hari Singh Park; Suchetgarh Border Tourism etc. which are awaiting completion. Quoting about the height of misleading and hoodwinking the people of Jammu by State Government, he said that the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu is making statements on the review of ongoing Jammu projects without giving details of physical/financial, present status and date of completion.
He said the ground situation is completely different and there is practically no work going on in the projects.
Elaborating the hidden agenda of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in promoting state tourism, he said that Mr Mufti is keen to bring Kashmir on international tourism map by promoting Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Srinagar Airport, etc whereas Jammu tourism, which is already on ventilator is being given scant attention.
