JAMMU, June 5: The Finance Department of the State Government today implemented one of the budget announcements pertaining to amnesty scheme for industrialists, hoteliers, tourist resort owners, Small Scale Industries and sick industries by waiving off interest, penalty and surcharge on power dues.
An official order to this effect issued today by the Finance Department said sanction had been accorded to waive off 100 per cent interest and penalty on all power arrears as on 31.12.2017, owed to the Government by the industrialists/hoteliers and tourist resort owners, registered with the Department of Industries and Commerce and Department of Tourism respectively provided that they make the outstanding payment of power dues as on 31.3.2018 by or before 30.9.2018 in a maximum of three equal installments.
The Finance Department also sanctioned waiver off 100 per cent interest and penalty on power arrears as on 31.12.2017, owed to the Government by the Small Scale Industries registered with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Jammu and Kashmir subject to the condition that the outstanding payment of power dues as on 31.3.2018, is paid by or before 30.9.2018 in a maximum of three equal installments.
The Department has approved waiver off 100 per cent penal interest and surcharge on power arrears as on 31.12.2017, owed to the Government by the Industrial Units declared sick by the Department of Industries and Commerce, J&K subject to the condition that the outstanding payment of power dues, as on 31.3.2018, is paid by or before 30.9.2018 in a maximum of three equal installments.
“Such consumers, who have fully paid their bills, shall not be eligible under this scheme,’’ the Government order said, adding that any default in payment in accordance with the scheme shall debar the consumer from benefits of the scheme.
It added that the Power Development Department shall dedicate special offices at all the district headquarters for successful implementation of the scheme.
It may be mentioned here that the scheme of amnesty for industrialists, hoteliers, tourist resort owners, Small Scale Industries and sick industries was part of the budget presented by the State Government in the Legislature in January this year for the year 2018-19.
The Finance Department has implemented the scheme by issuing formal orders for it.
