Jammu, Oct 7: Government has intensified measures to prevent the spread of dengue by carrying out regular cleaning and fogging in the areas where from maximum number of patients with symptoms of the vector borne disease are reported.
The information was given at a high level meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, M.K. Bhandari to take stock of treatment facilities for the suspected dengue patients and measures taken to contain its spread.
The meeting was attended by senior functionaries of district administration, Jammu, Kathua, Samba, besides Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Department of Health and Medical Education.
The Div Com called for strengthening treatment facilities at all major hospitals where the cases of dengue are being reported.
He asked for upgrading facilities by adding more dedicated wards in all the hospitals where treatment for dengue is being provided. He also called for expediting the verification of blood samples taken for tests so that persons with the symptoms are provided prompt treatment.
He asked the civic bodies to further intensify fogging and cleaning in the high risk areas to prevent the spread to other areas.
It was informed in the meeting that JMC is carrying out regular fogging in all the vulnerable areas besides intensifying the garbage lifting operations.
Among others, Deputy Commissioners, Jammu and Kathua, Rajeev Ranjan and Ramesh Kumar, Director Health Jammu, Gurjeet Singh Soodan, Additional DC Samba, T. R. Shastri and senior officer of district administration were present in the meeting.
