JAMMU, Dec 5: The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an advisory over advertisement on Online Gaming and Fantasy Sports etc.
In this regard, guidelines have been issued by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), which will be effective from December 15, 2020.
As per these guidelines, no gaming advertisement may depict any person under the age of 18 years engaged in playing a game of Online Gaming for Real Money Winning and every such gaming advertisement must carry the disclaimer.
The ASCI guidelines and the consequent advisory have been issued after it came to the notice of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry that such online gaming advertisements appear to be misleading, do not correctly convey to the consumers the financial and other risks associated thereof, are not in strict conformity with the Advertising Code laid down under Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995 and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
