NEW DELHI, Feb 6: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that even as the Modi Government takes a serious view against corruption in administration as well as against the non-performing officers, at the same time, the Government is keen to encourage the “performing” officers.
Responding to apprehensions expressed by different delegations of Civil Services officers over reports regarding termination of services of certain officers, Dr Jitendra Singh said, soon after assuming the office in May 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given the Mantra of ‘minimum government, maximum governance’. We are seriously conscious of the fact that a bureaucrat or a Civil Servant is an essential tool of governance and therefore, a good and a performing civil servant is imperative for good governance, he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh also allayed the fears among certain sections or certain streams of officers that deliberate discrimination sometimes happens between one cadre of Civil Services vis-à-vis another cadre of Civil Services. He said, in the last two-and-a-half years, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has cleared a huge backlog of stagnation, on a very fair basis, without bias or prejudice.
Speaking to a delegation of young Civil Services officers, led by Member of Parliament from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the process of empanelments in promotion has been considerably expedited in the DoPT and the government is keen that every officer gets his due and performs to the best of his ability and potential.
