JAMMU, Mar 5: Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra while replying to a question by Dr. Shehnaz Ganai said that Government has taken several steps to promote pilgrimage and adventure tourism in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
He said that an integrated tourist circuit Rajouri has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 598.53 lakh for developing tourist related infrastructure at Ziyarat Sharief Sain Gangi, Gura Top, Chitti Bathi, Darhal, Topa Ziyarat etc. He said that construction work on TRC at Shahdra Sharief has also been completed by Rajouri Development Authority at a cost of Rs. 1.71 crore besides this, Yatri Niwas at Mangla Mata, Rajouri has been completed at a cost of Rs. 63.81 lakhs.
The minister further said that construction work on Baitul Zaireen at Rajouri has also been taken up at a cost of Rs. 5 crore under Special Task Force for Jammu.
In Poonch a project “Development of Mughal road lake circuit infrastructure Development of Girgan, the valley of seven lakes” has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 419 lakhs and another project “Development and Promotion of Pilgrim Circuit (TRC at Gurduwara Nangali Sahib, TRC at Shri Budha Amarnath Ji and TRC at Ziarat Sain Miran Sahib)” has also been sanctioned. The Minister further added that yatri niwas at Nangali Sahib, Budha Amarnath, Sain Mira Shaib have also been completed.
Mr. Sadhotra said that many wayside amenities have also been developed at Rajouri and Poonch at various places.
Regarding the restoration of historical Poonch Fort, the Minister said that the restoration work was taken up in hand in the year 2006-07 at a cost of Rs. 40.55 lakhs. During the year 2011-12 another project namely “Conservation and Restoration Plan for Poonch Fort” was sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 3.79 crore and the work is in progress.
Mr. Sadhotra informed that Poonch Development Authority has been instructed to float an expression of Interest (EOI) for preparation of comprehensive DPR for conservation /restoration of left out portion of the Fort.
