Govt lacks firm policy on KPs rehabilitation: AIMCCC

JAMMU, Aug 5: A meeting of All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) was held at Jagti Township under the leadership of its president, Desh Rattan Pandita today.
Addressing the meeting, he said there are numerous unresolved issues of KPs which need to be discussed for resolution between the Government of India, State Administration and representative of KPs (mainly from camp/Non camp areas) while cautioning the community not to ear the statements of some people trying to create confusion in the community.
The community is facing many problems for last 34 years of exile and has no permanent space or identity.
The meeting said KPs have been totally ignored and no facilitates are provided or road map made, for welfare of this hapless community. No separate budget, as requested by AIMCCC from time to time, has been sanctioned this year too. No Central schemes like Kissan Nidhi, skill development etc are implemented. No employment being provided to educated youth, no enhancement of cash assistance, no political representation, no steps taken in last 34 years for permanent rehabilitation.
The Government gives statements that various steps have been taken for welfare of KPs, which are no where on ground and that’s why we are still struggling for same in this 35th year of exile.
He said nothing to restore encroached land, compensate for damaged and gutted houses/ temples,. “It seems only appeasement policy is adopted. We appeal Government to rescue the encroached land of temples and order an investigation for same so that the sale deeds are declared null & Void,” he added. He asked community to join struggle for its rights.
