Govt mulls strict action against absentees: Shabir

JAMMU, Apr 27:  Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmed Khan today took a meeting of officers of the Health Department and Drug Control Organization to review the implementation of various programmes/schemes.
He issued instructions to all the officers to maintain discipline and punctuality in the health institutions to facilitate the general public and any dereliction of duties  will be taken seriously by the Government.
Referring the termination of 73 doctors, the  Minister said that chronic absentees will not be spared at any cost. He also issued instructions for initiating process of termination of other absentee doctors and said that by terminating these doctors we are in position to refer these vacancies to the Public Service Commission for fresh recruitment. “Our aim is to provide best health care facilities and successful  implementation of various welfare programmes across the state”, the Minister said.
It was informed that Directorate General of Health Services, Central Drugs Control Organization has agreed for providing test and analysis facility for the drug samples at Central Drug Laboratory Kolkata and Regional Drug Laboratory Chandigarh for the samples forwarded by the State Drug Control Authority J&K. This will facilitate the testing process in addition to the test carried out in the laboratories in the state. Minister issued instructions to the Controller Drug and Food Organization to chalk out the procedures in consultation with the head of these laboratories. It is in place to mention here that Government has decided not to put in use any drug before it is tested. It was also informed that the testing process is being carried out in double shift in the drug testing laboratory at Jammu and Srinagar to increase the number of the tested samples multifold.
Meeting was attended by Mission Director NRHM, Director ISM, Controller Drugs and Food Organization, Deputy Director Health Services Jammu, Deputy Controller Drugs and Testing Laboratory Jammu.
