Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Jan 12: While the BJP Legislator S. Charanjeet Singh today claimed that Kashmir was no issue at all and the only issue was the  Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir; the National Conference Member Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri alleged that  Govt has given negative projection of  Kashmiri youth in the Governor’s address.
Participating in the discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address in the Legislative Council here today, BJP Member Charanjeet Singh said  that everybody chants  and beats drum of ‘Kashmir issue,… Kashmir issue’. “There is no Kashmir issue. The real issue is Pak occupied Kashmir. The Kashmiris are ruling the State since long. What is the problems to them. The displaced people since 1947 from PoK are the prime victims,” he maintained.
Referring to the blame game policy of some political parties over Kashmir killings, Singh said the youth of this State are facing deaths since 1989-90. Who was behind this militancy, who created Salaudin everybody knows?  Since then lot of bloodshed has been witnessed. He asked if the political parties of  Kashmir and others are really serious about the innocent deaths and want stoppage of bloodshed   they should think seriously and sit together to find a way for maintaining peace in the State. It is the collective responsibility. They should realize that youth being made ‘sacrificial goats’ for vested political interests are our assets and future of our State.  They all have to rise above their party line and narrow political vision,” Singh maintained.
Taking a dig at Valley based political parties and some groups now harping that Kashmiris are the part of composite culture of Kashmir and they should return to their home land, BJP Member asked why these people, not stopped them when they were migrating from  Kashmir. Now, they are showing concern for them. He said these are the double standards of these people. Infact, their intensions were not good and they had thought something else which could not be proved successful.
Charanjeet Singh appealed the people from all regions of the State to come together for bringing everlasting peace and harmony in State. He further appreciated the relief to displaced persons of PoK and Chhamb with immediate settlement of Rs 5.50 lakh to DP families.
Taking part in the discussion,  Congress Member Jugal Kishore Sharma said the people responsible for Shri Amarnath Land row  and those led the 2008 Jammu agitation have joined hands for their vested political interests. One party befooled and exploited Kashmiris and BJP  cheated Jammu people to grab their votes by making wrong promises. Both stood exposed  and failed to deliver to the people. There is no governance visible at all  and the people are feeling betrayed.
He asked BJP members why they were silent since long for seeking relief/ compensation for the victims of 2008 Jammu agitation and now when the Chief Minister announced Rs 5 lakh for the stone pelters and other involved in antinational activities in Kashmir, projected demand of the same for Jammu people. Where were they in last two years  after coming to power.  Jugal alleged that they have totally surrendered the  interests of Jammu for the sake of power. He said all the development projects have been stalled and BJP legislators have turned mute.
NC member Dr B A Veeri alleged that in Governor’s Address a negative projection of the Kashmiri youth has been done by the Government which is most unfortunate. He said Governor’s Address is full of contradictions and projects self praise of the Govt. He claimed that when there was massive militancy in 1996, Dr Farooq Abdullah dared to come forward and faced the challenge boldly with the object to restore peace. He said now the PDP claims that they are torch bearers of peace in Kashmir.
Referring to  Kashmir unrest, Dr Veeri said many youth were killed, over 2500 lost their eyes and many suffered injuries. Thousands have been jailed and PSA was imposed on them but now the PDP leaders ask Valley  youth to participate in political activities. How these boys can spare them who brought them to this situation.
PDP Member Firous Tak trained guns at NC members  and asked who made Sayed Salaudin ? Who created Burhan Wani and projected him as Hero? He said the people raising fingers on others should sweep before their own doors.
Tak further said some people tried to create issues like Sainik Colony, Kashmiri Colonies  and tried to create confusion. Their intensions could not be proved successful. They tried their best whatever they could, to meet their designs.   Tak lauded the policies and initiatives of the Government including proposing railway line connectivity between Rajouri-Poonch, Kathua-Kishtwar, Rs 500 crore action plan under Prime Minister Development Package, project proposals worth Rs 2842.32 crore under PMGSY besides monetary support to displaced persons of PoK and Chhamb.
While taking part in the discussion, Ashok Khajuria lauded Governments efforts and achievements including the ten-fold increase in industrial sector investments, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, development of Tawi river front, inclusion of Vaishno Devi- Katra area in Swachh Bharat “Clean India” Mission, establishment of two AIIMS in Jammu and Srinagar, two Cluster Universities, State Cancer Institute at Soura, IIT & IIM at Nagrota, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao among others.
Yasir Reshi lauded the effective governance initiatives launched by the Government said that these measures will provide people with hassle free access to services. He also launched scathing attack on opposition and said that they stood exposed.
