Govt non-serious over swine-flu: EJAC

SRINAGAR, Sept 17: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) leader Abdul Qayoom Wani has alleged that Government is non-serious towards the spread of swine-flu (H1N1) in the State.
While addressing a meeting of EJAC members, the JCC leader and EJAC president Abdul  Qayoom Wani said that Govt seems insensitive towards the spread of H1N1 in coming winter season as the outbreak of H1N1 (Swine-flue) may be more serious than the previous out break and Govt  is in deep slumber as there is no preparedness on ground to combat this deadly disease.
Mr Wani said, “We have seen in past, how indifference of  Govt led to spread of disease and many precious lives were lost. Instead of combating the deadly disease H1N1 (Swine-flu), Health authorities concealed the information and mislead people by disseminating wrong information. People died due to lack of facilities in hospitals, like medicines, testing facilities and vaccination,” the EJAC leader added.
He said despite alarm of outbreak of H1N1 the Govt is not making any efforts to keep logistics available and make people aware about the disease. There was panic in last flu season as Govt mislead people about H1N1 and concealed positive cases. The school children were worst hit because of lack of vaccination as a consequence schools were closed and precious lives of children were lost.
EJAC leader cautioned the Govt to wake up before it is late as this disease attacks in the approaching winter season and start preparations  to combat (H1N1) and keep vaccinates available and create special wards to treat such cases and vaccination be done to school children as they are more vulnerable.
