JAMMU, Apr 22: All India Backward Classes Union- Social has alleged that J&K Government was not doing justice with the backward classes.
In a joint press statement members of the organisations said that J&K UT Govt has formally ordered reservation policy with only 4% quota for socially under privileged classes (OSCs) inspite of strong representations to LG, Chairman and Vice Chairman of NCBC. It is surprising to observe that Govt reduced 20 % RBA quota to 10% without mentioning criteria and it enhanced the reservation share to other social castes from 2 % to 4% instead of 27%.
Again, the reservation to Pahari speaking people residing in only four districts has gone upto 4% inproportionate to their population where as the population of OBCs throughout the state is only 4%, which very surprising. The Backward classes are facing rough deal in the J&K and there is stroing resentment among the members of this community.
They further pointed out that the new reservation policy brings RBA, Pahari speaking, ALC, LOC, OSCs under one category that is `Socially and Educationally Backward Classes which exists no where in the country, has crossed all limits of violations.
OBCs were assured for the due share and a fair constitution of the backward classes commission by the LG and other concerned authorities but both the matters have dashed to the ground, they alleged. And Backward Classes Commission so constituted is no commission which has neither the chairman nor the members from the OBC communities.
