Govt not serious about return of Pandits: KHC

JAMMU, June 8: Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of M L Thusoo in which grave concern was expressed over the efforts of some leaders for creating impediments in the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Thusoo said number of proposals, ideas and plans can be thought of about the return and rehabilitation of the displaced people which is not bad.
He said with changing situation and scenario the KPs should keep pace and not adopt a rigid attitude. The interlocutors in their feed back report during their visit to State  from August 29 to September 3 last year and the guidelines given by Working Group on internally displaced people at UN Human Rights Council should be accepted.
He said, at least four out of a compendium fundamentals are of vital importance, which included non-refoulment, concentrated and comprehensive living, recognition specific identity and political empowerment with viable means of sustenance. For this they have recommended a twin city for Srinagar by the name of Nav Srinagar for the KP community and how anti community activity arises in this, asked Mr Thusoo.
P L Kaul Badgami convener KHC said Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is not seriously pursuing the return and rehabilitation of the community while he is vigorously following the rehabilitation of Pak return terrorists to please the Kashmiri vote bank. This is a clear indication that community cause of return will remain hanging for years together, he added.
