JAMMU, Oct 1: All Displaced Kashmiri Pandit United Forum (ADKPUF) discussed burning problems of displaced people in a meeting held here, today under the chairman of DN Kissu.
Forum alleged that Government is not serious at all in rehabilitating Pandits in Valley as not a single step has been taken in this regard.
Prof GL Koul chief advisor of the Forum appealed the Government to improve the irregular water and erratic electric supply in migrant colonies. He further said that the lanes and drains damaged during rainy season should be repaired at the earliest and added that the damaged street lights have been ignored completely which should be replaced immediately.
P L Sudeshi, president of Forum said that crops are illegally cultivated on Pandits land despite the fact that the owners have since submitted applications for the restoration of their land under the Agrarian Act. He also said that the rent against the land occupied by forces has still not been paid to a number of displaced owners.
P N Raina general secretary of the Forum said that it is surprising that there is no word from the Government on deleting names of Pandits from JMC voter lists despite repeated requests made through media and otherwise. He questioned the wisdom of Government behind the move.
C L Zutshi appealed the Government for providing accommodation to the employees appointed under PMs Employment Package who at present are living in congested accommodations on sharing basis without adequate security. He added that the employees should be posted near their residential quarters for security purposes. He further said that the remaining vacancies under the said package should be filled without further delay.
The Forum also said that one generation has vanished and no compensation has been provided to the displaced traders so far. It said no compensation has been given against damaged property of Pandits which have not been treated like fire and flood victims for which entire Government rushes with compensation to occupy headlines.
Others who spoke in the meeting were ML Koul, Balji Pandit and BN Bhat.
