NEW DELHI, Oct 24: Export of dried silk worm pupae to the European Union will be allowed subject to a shipment clearance certificate to be issued by the Chemical and Allied Products Export Promotion Council, the government has said.
“Conditions for export of dried silk worm pupae to EU have been notified,” Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.
It said the shipment clearance certificate would be issued consignment-wise by the CAPEXIL indicating details such as name and address of the exporter, address of the registered plant, IEC (importer exporter code) number of the exporter, quantity, port of loading and destination.
It said after the shipment is made, the exporter shall also provide a health certificate consignment wise to the buyer giving details of vessel name and shipping bill number with date.
“The certificate would be issued jointly by CAPEXIL & Regional Animal Quarantine Officer, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture,” it added.
According to reports, dried silkworm pupae contains high level of protein that contributes to the rapid growth of fishes, while keeping them strong and healthy.
The EU is one of the largest trading partner of India. The two-way commerce in 2013-14 stood at USD 101.5 billion. (PTI)
