The divisional administration and representatives of AIIMS Coordination Committee tonight held more than two hours long discussions on the demands raised by the CC, violence during ongoing agitation and issues pertaining to the setting up of AIIMS in Jammu.
Sources told the Excelsior that the AIIMS representatives wanted to know from the administration that whether AIIMS in Jammu and Kashmir regions will have 26 specialties each or they would be divided into 13 each, whether the AIIMS would have budgetary funds of Rs 1600 crores each or will it be split into Rs 800 crores each and whether there will be one or two Directors (one each) for the AIIMS. They also wanted the Government to clarify on how much land has been identified for the AIIMS in Jammu and Kashmir regions.
They wanted Union Health Minister JP Nadda to visit Jammu and clarify the issues.
However, the divisional administration told the AIIMS representatives that Nadda was busy in the Parliament and can’t visit Jammu but they offered to arrange a meeting of the AIIMS CC representatives with Nadda in New Delhi to clear their doubts.
“The administration offered to facilitate meeting between Nadda and the AIIMS representatives anytime to clear the issues they have raised on the AIIMS,’’ sources said.
On release of youths arrested by police today for indulging in violence and defying prohibitory orders, sources said police took very hard stand and categorically ruled out release saying that the youths damaging public property will not be spared at any cost.
“Even tomorrow anyone indulges in violence and violate prohibitory orders, we will take action. There can be no compromise in maintenance of law and order,’’ the police officers told the AIIMS representatives and declared that police was determined to maintain law and order at any cost and will not allow anyone to take law in their own hands.
Sources said the AIIMS representatives told the administration that they will discuss the issue in their meeting and report back to the administration.
The AIIMS representatives present in the meeting were Rakesh Gupta, Arun Gupta, Sham Langar and Ashu Gupta, all from Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Ved Raj Wazir, Pranav Kohli and Daljeet Singh Manhas from Bar Association, Tarlochan Singh Wazir, Narayan Singh and Pavitter Singh.
