NEW DELHI: The Government today announced that it had approved the constitution of the seventh Central Pay Commission.
April 1, 2006 marked the enforcement of the findings of the last pay commission.
Recommendations of the fourth and the fifth commissions were implemented in April, 1986 and 1996, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said in a statement here.
He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has given his approval for the seventh Central Pay Commission.
The average time taken by a pay commission to submit its recommendations is around two years and accordingly, the findings are likely to be implemented with effect from April, 2016.
Names of chairperson and members along with terms of reference (ToR) for the new commission will be finalised and announced soon after consultations with stakeholders, the Finance Minister added. (AGENCIES)
