JAMMU, July 29: The Government will soon settle the issue of 300 Information Technology (IT) professionals in the J&K UT as the Department is on the job of framing rules for their re-designation.
This was stated by Additional Secretary IT Department, Dr Rajinder Khajuria. He said that the Department is on the job and the re-designation of IT personnel is under process and same will be done soon. However he did not give any timeframe for the same.
It may be recalled that 300 IT professionals in J&K were demanding justice for last 24 years as the authorities at the helm of affairs had failed to convene a meeting since 2016 to decide their fate.
Appointed in the year 1996-97 these hapless employees see their future totally bleak as the Government has failed to take a decision to frame service rules for them and grant promotions or give them other benefits.
As per sources, the Government in the year 2016 has constituted a four member Committee under the chairmanship of Administrative Secretary, Information Technology with Additional Secretary General Administrative Department and Director General Budget and Commissioner Secretary Law as its members to prepare a list of each candidate as per the formulated IT Recruitment Rules. The Committee was ordered to be serviced by the Information Technology Department.
Sources said that though the Cabinet had formulated a clear cut path for initial constitution of IT service on the basis of date collected by GAD of all IT related personnel working in various departments of the erstwhile State and appropriately making corrections in the nomenclature of the existing posts by re-designating some and abolishing some posts which were found not as per the framed IT recruitment rules and also withdrawing all IT related posts from various departments for their inclusion in J&K IT Services, but the IT Department failed to act on the mandate assigned to it by the State Cabinet, sources added.
It may be recalled that Accounts and Treasuries Department had written a letter to the IT Department for re-designation of IT personnel working in the Department but the latter categorically refrained it from doing so by impressing all the administrative departments not to re-designate any IT related employee at their own will as the cadre Controlling Department of IT related personnel/ employees is Information Technology Department so as to avoid any confusion or duplication due to the same in future.
The issue of these hapless employees remained hanging in balance for over two decades however with the IT Department’s action a ray of hope has been generated among these employees and they are hopeful that something tangible will come out.
