JAMMU, June 12: Principal Secretary, Home Department, RK Goyal, has imposed penalty on DySP Daljeet Singh, presently posted in CID (Special Branch) Udhampur, by directing that his three increments be forfeited for casualness on his part during his posting as DySP IRP 11th battalion.
In an order, the Home Department has referred to the incident followed by inquiry report of Yogender Kaul, IGP, IR Jammu, which stated that appropriate precautions should have been exercised by Daljeet Singh as Supervisory Officer during unauthorized absence of his PSO Ajay Kumar from the duty.
“The DySP didn’t issue instructions or take steps to keep his PSO’s loaded rifle (INSAS) in safe custody as was required under the prescribed norms. He should have taken timely steps to report absence of the PSO and keep his weapon in safe custody,’’ the report said.
It said that Daljeet Singh had already been served with charge-sheet to which he had replied. Accordingly, Police Headquarters had appointed Yogender Koul as the Inquiry Officer.
The Inquiry Officer has established charge of partial supervisory negligence against the DySP.
