SRINAGAR, June 9: The employees of Government Press today protested against the alleged illegal orders issued in favour of some un-deserving employees of the department. The protesters demanded immediate roll-back of the orders saying that these are casting a negative image on the working of the department.
The protesting employees under the banner of Government Press Employees Association (GPEA) said that illegal orders have dented the promotion orders of the deserving officials. They said promotion as well as transfer rules in the department have been trampled, adding that procedure should be followed in promotion as well as transfer of the employees.
The protesters alleged that some of the officers of the department have deliberately made the machine of the press defunct thus leading to losses in lakhs to the department. They threatened to come on streets and lodge strong protests in case the irregularities are not stopped in the department.
