Govt should provide security to tankers, truck drivers: JPPF

JAMMU, Aug 22: The Jammu Province People’s Forum has urged upon the State Government to provide security and protection to the Jammu tanker and truck operators being attacked by miscreants ion Kashmir valley.
While condemning attacks by the stone pelting mobs on the tanker drivers in Kashmir, Jammu Province Peoples’ Forum president Pavitter Singh Bhardwaj expressed its solidarity and extended support to All J&K Truck Drivers and Conductors Union and All J&K and Oil Tankers Association for their call for indefinite strike as they are well within their fundamental rights to claim security for the safety of drivers/cleaners besides compensation for the damages to the tankers/trucks and the injured drivers/cleaners by the stone pelting mobs in Kashmir valley.
Pavittar Singh urged the State Administration to immediately provide security to the drivers and cleaners of trucks and tankers as they are easy targets and are engaged in ferrying the essentials including petroleum, diesel, kerosene and essential commodities not only to the security personals also to the civilians. He further said security persons are attending to the noble cause of maintaining law and order in the continuous turmoil in the Valley, besides they save the civilians from the wrath of terrorists also.
The JPPF president welcomed the decision of the All J&K Oil Tankers Association for exempting Jammu region from the ambit of the strike call in view of their hardships being faced by them since Saturday. Jammu people always stood against violence and stone pelters, who are infact militants, working against the national integrity & sovereignty and humanity. People of Jammu appreciating the steps taken by Government of India to contain the violence erupted in some parts of Kashmir.
Besides, MS Katoch working president, the meeting was attended by Inderheet Khajuria, Narayan Singh, Gajan Singh, Avinash Bhatia, Amrit Magotra, ML Sharma, Balwan Singh, Resham Singh Jamwal, SPS Salathia, Mohan Singh, Sunita Sharma, Kamla Sharma and others.
