Govt pursuing suicidal policy in Kashmir: PK

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 1: Panun Kashmir has criticized the State and Central Government for its present policies pursued by them to show case that peace has returned to trouble torn Valley.
The reckless and suicidal policy followed by the State and Central Governments to show case how peace has returned to Valley is contrary to ground reality and it is leading to expected consequences, PK chairman Dr Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here today along with senior KP leader O N Trisal, PK general secretary, Kuldeep Raina and PN Pandita.
He said the violence against the sarpanchs and panchs and their mass resignation only shows that the threat of violence looms large in Valley and this threat is not imaginary but real.
He said the terrorist regimes operating in the State and their over ground support structures have demonstrated time and again that their reach is formidable. So many incidents in the different spheres of public life and the society in Valley in recent times have clearly shown it. PK sees the rhetoric on return of normalcy emanating at various levels of the Government as only a process of self delusion and distortion of reality creating dangerous vulnerability to subversive machinations, he added.
Dr Chrungoo said it is disgusting that those at the helm of affairs are closing their eyes to growing radicalization in Kashmir. The Geelani sickness in Valley is widening its ambit and becoming all pervasive, he added.
He said the democratic process initiated in the State in 1996 is over one and half decade old now but the separatists and fundamentalists influence is growing day by day. This is because the Government policy has encouraged a symbolic relationship between the main stream political establishment and the separatists.
He said the process of accommodation of separatists, fundamentalists and Pakistan over the years has not been a pursuit of peace but in turn it has killed all possibilities of sustainable peace.
The PK leader said that his organization has time and again warned the Government against such initiatives which is measuring and analyzing the situation only in terms of number of tourists visiting the Valley and the statistics of comparative violence.
