JAMMU, Apr 2: Following a strong public resentment, the Government today rectified its earlier controversial decision of closing down social media account of Directorate of Tourism, Jammu.
“Both the Directorates will continue posting on their individual social media accounts and will ensure that the content uploaded is also immediately shared on the common social media account of the Department,” said a communiqué, issued by the Department of Tourism to both Directorate of Jammu/Kashmir and the Managing Director , J&K State Cable Car Corp.
The Excelsior, in its March 26 edition, had exclusively reported that the Publicity Committee of J&K Tourism Department, during its meeting held on March 18, had decided for closure of social media account of Tourism Jammu and ordered that there would be only one social media account for both the Directorates of Tourism, which shall be maintained by Director, Tourism Kashmir.
As per that controversial decision, “the Social Media account of the Director, Tourism Kashmir will be the only account to be used. The Director Tourism Jammu can continue with the existing Social Media team, if any, but will only post in the Social Media account maintained by the Director Tourism Kashmir.”
Following the Excelsior report, there was widespread criticism and social media campaign against this anti-Jammu decision of the Tourism Department.
