Govt schools renamed after martyrs

JAMMU, Dec 15: Three Government Schools were renamed after martrys.
In order to honour the sacrifice made by the valiant soldier while protecting the country, Jammu District Administration renamed Government High School, Maira Mandrian as Shaheed Naib Subedar Bansi Lal Government High School Maira Mandrian.
The renaming ceremony was organized in the school premises in which Suresh Sharma DDC Mera Mandrian was the chief guest where as Ramesh Chander ADDC Jammu, Major Bhawani Singh from 11 Grenadier and Sushma Sharma BDC Mera Mandrian were the special guests.
Tehsildar Mera Mandrian Mamta Sudershan presented the welcome note and highlighted the achievements of the martyr and the story of his martyrdom.
On the occasion, the students of the school presented various patriotic cultural performances.
In the end, Suraj Parkash Sharma Principal Shaheed Naib Subedar Bansi Lal Government High School presented vote of thanks.
Among others present were SDM Akhnoor Varinder Gupta, BDO Danish Rasool, Jaipal Sharma, brother of martyr, Medical Officer Bhawana Raina, Puran Chand, Sansar Singh, Chanchal Singh, etc.
Meanwhile, Government Middle School Banjala, Zone Udhampur has been renamed after martyred constable Govind Singh.
In a function, the school was renamed as Martyred Constable Govind Singh Memorial School.
The parents and family members of martyred Constable Govind Singh participated in the function. The said officer attained martyrdom on February 12, 2002 in Darhal area of District Rajouri while fighting bravely with the terrorists. In recognition of his gallant action, he was also awarded with Gallantry Award on April 9, 2003 posthumously.
Senior officers from District Administration and police were present on the occasion and while speaking threw light on the supreme sacrifice of the martyr.
However, District Administration Kathua today named High School Galak after Shaheed Naik Govind Ram at a programme held  here at Galak, Billawar.
The son of soil Naik Govind Ram of CRPF 79 Bn attained martyrdom, while fighting with militants in Manipur on December 19, 1994.
The DDC Chairman Mahan Singh said that the initiative of the JKUT Administration to remember the contribution of valiant soldiers who put nation first and laid down their life for the protection of our nation is befitting tribute to them.
While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav said naming the Schools after the martyr soldiers or other public figures was aimed to inspire the present generation to contribute towards nation building.
Wife of Shaheed Naik Govind Ram, Satya Devi and his two sons Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Surinder Sharma were also present during the ceremony.
CEO Kathua, Sarpanch, Panchs and a large number of locals were also present.
